Taipei IN Style 2012 (TIS 2012) is scheduled to start in mid-October in a bid to promote exchanges between domestic and foreign fashion businesses with an eye to penetrating the global market, the organizer said yesterday.
The annual fashion trade show is scheduled to run from Oct. 16 to Oct. 18 at the Taipei World Trade Center Nangang Exhibition Hall, said the Taiwan Textile Federation (TTF), which is organizing the event for the seventh year.
A total of 124 local and foreign fashion business have applied to participate in the event so far and the number is expected to increase by the end of this month, when the TTF will close the application process, the federation said.
Besides exhibitors displaying designs in their booths, the TTF has arranged 10 fashion shows so designers can show off their creations on the catwalk to attract market attention, the federation said.
The goal is to attract more than 20,000 visitors, compared with the 25,000 who attended last year, the TTF said.
Among the foreign exhibitors at TIS 2012 will be a delegation led by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council. This year will be the fourth time that the Hong Kong council has led a delegation to attend the Taipei event.
