Smartphone maker HTC Corp (宏達電) was the most frequently searched-for company on a local online job bank during the May-to-October period.
104 Job Bank said yesterday that HTC was searched for 28,170 times during the period, a monthly average of 4,695 searches, topping other companies which are signed up with the job bank.
High-profile brand names, such as HTC, are favored by job seekers looking for a full-time employment, while part-time job seekers are mainly looking for openings in the retail sector, the job bank said.
Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co (台積電), the world’s largest contract chipmaker, came in second after being searched for 25,577 times during the same period, an average of 4,263 searches a month, the job bank said.
Eslite (誠品), the nation’s largest bookstore chain, took third place after notching 20,166 searches in the six-month period, a monthly average of 3,361 searches, the job bank said.
Shin Kong Mitsukoshi Department Store (新光三越) ranked the fourth-most searched company, ahead of retailer Carrefour, IC packaging and testing services provider Advanced Semiconductor Engineering Inc (日月光半導體) and coffee shop chain Starbucks.
The job bank said ZARA, a fashion brand based in Spain, which showed up on the list for the first time in September, ranked sixth in October, up five places from a month earlier.
ZARA opened its first store in Taipei last month and it currently runs two stores in the nation’s capital.
