Delta Electronics Inc (台達電), the world’s top switching power supplies maker, yesterday said it is aiming for significant growth in LED lighting shipments this year.
The company shipped nearly 1 million energy-conserving and -environment-friendly lighting units last year, while this year’s shipments would surpass those figures, company spokesman Jesse Chou (周志宏) said by telephone.
These LED products include street lights, light balls, lamps and units for commercial use, he said.
In addition to contract business, Delta has also launched into branded business by starting to sell Delta-branded light products in the second half of last year.
Chou said the company plans to make forays into overseas markets after gaining a foothold at home.
Delta mainly offers customers branded commercial offerings that include industrial automation solutions. In a bid to diversify, the -company has said it would invest more in own-brand consumer products that consist of LEDs, electronic readers and projectors.
Delta’s revenue rose 15.2 percent to NT$34.1 billion (US1.2 billion) last year from the previous year.
Its stock closed up 1.5 percent at NT$140 on the Taiwan Stock Exchange yesterday. The stock has increased 42 percent over the last 12 months, compared to 7.8 percent rise for the main bourse.
