Giga Solar Materials Corp (碩禾電子), a Taiwan-based provider of conductive materials for solar cells, topped the Deloitte Technology Fast500 Asia-Pacific ranking this year due to its significant sales growth, the accounting firm said on Thursday.
According to Deloitte, Giga Solar posted a 24,694 percent increase in sales for last year compared with 2007, the highest growth among the 500 Asia--Pacific high-tech firms surveyed.
In addition, Taiwan’s Microview Technology Corp (晶積科技), a flat panel module OEM service provider and Young Fast Optoelectronics Co (洋華光電), which produces touch panels, also ranked in the top 20.
Microview’s sales last year rose 1,877 percent from 2007, while Young Fast saw sales growth of 1,773 percent over the period.
Deloitte said a total of 86 Taiwanese high-tech companies were included in the top 500 enterprises, down 99 from last year.
However, the 86 Taiwanese firms enjoyed an average growth of 498 percent in sales from 2007 to last year, higher than the average increase of 377 percent from 2006 to 2008, according to the accounting firm.
Meanwhile, Taiwan’s 498 percent growth was also higher than the average increase of 322 percent among the 500 firms in the Asia-Pacific region, it added.
The chief executives of the 86 Taiwanese companies had mixed sentiments about the outlook for the global high- tech sector over the next year, while the chief executives of the 147 Chinese firms represented expressed optimism.
