A leading British renewable energy development company has entered into a partnership with a local firm to further develop wind power in Taiwan.
SeaEnergy PLC and Taiwan Generations Corp (TGC, ¥Ã¶Ç¯à·½) signed a Heads of Terms Agreement to jointly develop TGC¡¦s pipeline of offshore windfarm projects.
It is the first offshore windfarm collaboration between the UK and Taiwan.
Under the agreement, the two companies will jointly plan, construct and operate offshore windfarms in Taiwan, commencing with TGC¡¦s NT$40 billion (US$1.23 billion) Changhua offshore windfarm project that will have an installed capacity of up to 600 megawatts.
The Council for Economic Planning and Development said installed local wind power capacity reached 358MW last year, making the country the world¡¦s 23rd-largest producer of wind power.
TGC hopes to establish a platform for international players to bring their resources and successful development experience to Taiwan.
