Lite-On Technology Corp (光寶科技), the world’s biggest maker of power supplies for notebook computers, yesterday reported consolidated revenue of NT$9.63 billion (US$300 million) for last month, a record high for the year.
Last month’s figure was up 14.8 percent from NT$8.39 billion in August, with all business units reporting consecutive monthly growth. Annually, the company saw revenue grow 7.6 percent from NT$8.95 billion a year ago.
“The sales growth was attributable to the ongoing expansion in market share and better account mix, coupled with the rising end demand in the seasonality,” the Neihu (內湖)-based company said in an e-mailed statement.
For the first nine months of the year, accumulated sales were NT$68.67 billion, down 35.9 percent from the same period last year, company data showed.
Electronic devices and optoelectronic components are Lite-On’s major revenue bases, including switching power supply products, light-emitting-diode backlighting for notebooks and PC monitors and handset casing and keyboard products.
Among its business units, the power supply segment posted monthly growth of 6 percent, while the optoelectronics operation registered monthly growth of 5 percent, both hitting a new record this year, Lite-On said.
Shares of Lite-On have surged 93.24 percent this year, outperforming a rise of 70.68 percent on the main bourse’s electronics sub-index and an increase of 63.43 percent on the TAIEX.
The stock ended at NT$41.45 on the Taiwan Stock Exchange yesterday, down 2.47 percent from Wednesday.
