Taiwan’s domestic trade rose 5.61 percent last month compared with May, while dropping 5.32 percent year-on-year to NT$1.36 trillion (US$41.38 billion), the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) said yesterday.
Domestic trade includes retail, wholesale and restaurant sectors.
The ministry said the restaurant sector increased year-on-year by 1.2 percent, while the wholesale and retail sectors showed minor yearly declines of 6.82 percent and 1.49 percent, respectively.
The wholesale sector demonstrated the smallest yearly decline in an eight-month period, while the retail sector showed its smallest drop in a 10-month period.
For the first half of this year, accumulated domestic trade value was NT$5.83 trillion, down 11.15 percent from a year earlier.
