Asia’s largest sporting goods show will begin in Taipei this month with an expanded cross-Taiwan Strait section that will enable buyers to source through China from Taiwan, the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA, 外貿協會) said on Saturday.
The Taipei International Sporting Goods Show (TaiSPO), to be held at the World Trade Center from March 19 until March 22, will feature high value-added sports products developed with Taiwan’s advanced technology.
TAITRA said items made in Taiwan were more advanced than those made in China and Southeast Asian countries.
More than 300 exhibitors will occupy about 1,500 booths at the show, which will feature fitness equipment, skating and skiing products, balls used in various sports and outdoor/water sports equipment, TAITRA said.
Foreign exhibitors, including a delegation from China, will have their own section at the trade fair.
Meanwhile, the event is expected to attract approximately 1,000 foreign buyers from 70 countries, including heavyweights from Mexico, India, the United Arab Emirates, South Korea, Japan and Poland, the organizer said.
Several half or one-day tours to major tourist attractions in Taipei and other cities will also be available for foreign buyers to explore the country’s rich culture and natural beauty, TAITRA said.
Like last year, this year’s TaiSPO will be held in conjunction with Taipei CYCLE — the world’s third-largest bicycle show — to broaden buyers’ business prospects.
Taipei Cycle will be held at Taipei’s Nangang Exhibition Hall from March 17 to March 20.
With the two exhibitions overlapping on March 19 and March 20, shuttle buses will be provided to carry people between the two venues, TAITRA said.
