The winner of this year¡¦s Good Design Grand Award will receive the award on Nov. 6 after the Japan Industrial Design Promotion Organization (JIDPO), announced 15 candidates earlier this month.

Although no Taiwanese products made the Best 15 list, 31 products from more than 10 Taiwanese manufacturers earned special recognition awards for innovation and creativity.

Recipients included Asustek Computer Inc (µØºÓ¹q¸£), IPEVO Corp (·R¤ñ¬ì§Þ), Acer Inc (§»ùÖ), Adata Technology Inc («Âè¬ì§Þ), BenQ Corp (©ú°ò) and Qisda Corp (¨Î¥@¹F), among others.

The Chinese-language China Times (¤¤°ê®É³ø) reported yesterday that Asus¡¦ personal digital assistant P552W and low-price laptop EeePC 901, as well as Adata¡¦s disc players N702 and S701, and BenQ¡¦s liquid crystal display (LCD) M2200W were among the products recognized.

The organization promotes good design across various industries and received over 3,023 entries since the application process opened on May 8.

The Good Design Award gave rise to the ¡§Good Design Selection System,¡¨ more popularly known as Japan¡¦s G-Mark System, which was instituted by the Ministry of International Trade and Industry in 1957.

As global companies focus on design, Japan¡¦s Good Design Award has become the widely accepted evaluation system.
