Also on Friday, Berkshire Hathaway agreed to buy NRG NV, the reinsurance unit of ING Group, said for about US$435.7 million in cash.
The sale of NRG to Berkshire Hathaway is expected to close during the first half of next year. ING is expected to take a loss of about US$145.2 million for this year related to the sale.
