Minister of Economic Affairs Steve Chen (陳瑞隆) decorated Ray Lin (林瑞岳), chairman of the Tex-Ray Group (南緯公司), with an Economic Medal yesterday in recognition of his contribution to improving ties between Taiwan and Swaziland.
Absalom Dlamini, Swaziland's minister of economic planning and development, was among the guests at the presentation ceremony at the Ministry of Economic Affairs. The Economic Medal is the top honor bestowed by the ministry on individuals or organizations who have made an outstanding contribution to the nation in the field of economic affairs.
Lauding Lin and his business group, Chen said during the ceremony that over the years, Lin had not only invested in Swaziland, helping cement economic and trade exchanges between the two countries, but has also made many more friends in the African ally by channeling large amounts of money to Swaziland for social work.
Dlamini was visiting Taiwan for the 11th Economic and Technology Cooperation Conference between Taiwan and Swaziland.
Lin's Tex-Ray Group established its Tex-Ray Investment Swaziland offshoot in 2001, and now operates eight firms there which employ approximately 8,000 people working on integrated production lines.
Tex-Ray Investment Swaziland is also planning to invest in biotech and pharmaceutical research and development in Swaziland.
