Car dealers head to auto show in China

A Taiwanese automobile industry delegation, organized by the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (外貿協會, TAITRA) including nine auto dealers, will take part in the fifth China (Guangzhou) International Automobile Exhibi-tion starting tomorrow, a TAITRA official said yesterday.

The official said that TAITRA would set up an "image zone" for Taiwanese auto parts and accessories dealers to explore a variety of trade opportunities during the week-long auto show, to be held at the Guangzhou International Convention and Exhibition Center.

In recent years, Guangzhou has become the biggest auto manufacturing base in the southern part of China with over 200 component dealers and auto makers including leading manufacturers of brands such as Toyoto, Honda and Nissan.

The nine local auto dealers in the Taiwanese delegation include China Motor Corp (中華汽車), K.S. Terminal Inc (健和興端子) and Hota Industrial Mfg Co (和大工業).

More than 400 manufacturers from 20 countries will participate in the trade show, which will be divided into four exhibition zones for passenger cars, commercial vehicles, auto parts and accessories and auto miscellaneous appliances, the official said.

The official said that the international auto exhibition was expected to attract around 540,000 visitors and buyers.

The exhibition runs through next Monday.
