BenQ Corp (明基) held its annual shareholders' meeting yesterday and said it expects to see profits in both its brand and contract production businesses next year.
BenQ chairman Lee Kun-yao (李焜耀) reassured investors that both operations will drive into profitability next year after the spin off of the brand business in September.
The brand business will be able to break even this year after the disposal of Siemens AG's mobile phone unit, which put it in the red for six continuous quarters, he said.
BenQ announced in April that it would spin off its brand business.
The company will then be renamed Qisda Corp (佳世達), rather than the originally proposed Jia Da Corp (佳達電通), it said.
In addition, the sale of two office buildings in Taipei's Neihu District by the year's end, coupled with the disposal of long-term investments, will generate over NT$10 billion this year, the company said.
