Synnex Technology International Corp (聯強國際), Asia's largest IT product distributor, recently expanded its distributorship of liquid-crystal-display (LCD) monitors in China by roping in two new brands.
The Taipei-based company started distributing monitors from TPV Technology Ltd (冠捷) to resellers in March, while NEC Corp joined the list last month, the company said in a statement.
These brands joined Synnex's other brand offerings including Hewlett-Packard, ViewSonic, LG and Philips, the company statement released on Thursday said.
"We are expanding our product portfolio in China to cope with consumer demand. The switch from conventional cathode-ray tube monitors to LCD ones is now rapidly taking place there," the statement read.
Synnex sold nearly 400,000 LCD monitors in the first quarter, with sales in China accounting for 53 percent. The firm sold 1.4 million monitors worldwide last year, the statement said.
Synnex was founded in 1980 in Taiwan and commenced its operations in China in 1996. It is the No. 2 distributor of computers and related products in the Chinese market, after US-headquartered Ingram Micro Inc.
"The company's growth prospects are promising thanks to solid management and a commitment to staying on top of industry trends," Vincent Chen (陳豊丰), an analyst at CLSA Ltd, said in a report dated April 17.
Synnex's expansion in China is underpinned by the country's fast-growing consumer market, while its strategic investments in India and the US support scale economies, Chen said.
