EVA launches Taipei-Saipan charter flight service

EVA Airways Corp (長榮), one of the nation's international airlines, launched a scheduled charter service yesterday between Taipei and Saipan -- the largest island in the Northern Marianas, a US Commonwealth territory in the West Pacific.

The airline will operate two non-stop charter flights between Taipei and Saipan every week.

EVA Airways said that the flights would depart from Taipei at 10:30pm every Tuesday and Saturday and land in Saipan four hours later. Return flights will be at 6:30am every Wednesday and Sunday. An Airbus 330-200, which seats 252 passengers, including 24 in business class, will be used.

To celebrate the launch of the service, EVA will select two lucky passengers from each flight between Friday and April 17 through a draw and each winner will receive a Nintendo Wii videogame console.
