Merkel, Chirac calm Airbus fears

Airbus employs about 21,000 people at seven sites in Germany and officials there are concerned that those sites will bear the brunt of the austerity moves.

An EADS spokesman reiterated on Thursday that no decision had been taken, dismissing as "speculation" repeated reports of layoffs.
