US stocks climb on rate pause hopes

EXPECTATIONS Despite a cloudy picture in both oil and property markets, Wall Street traders sent markets up on a belief that the Fed will take a breather from its rate hikes

Bond prices rose on the perception that growth is cooling.

Yields on the 10-year Treasury bond dropped to 4.990 percent from 5.045 percent a week earlier, while the 30-year bond yield dipped to 5.067 percent from 5.103 percent.

Bond yields and prices move in opposite directions.
