A large-scale Taiwan-India forum aimed at increasing commercial exchanges and helping Taiwanese businessmen "seize the India trend" will be held from April 27-28 in Taipei, organizers said last week.
"This is the first time that experts from Taiwanese and Indian enterprises, academia, government and research institutes will assemble on a single platform to discuss a wide range of commercial topics on India," said Ho Mei-yueh (何美玥), secretary-general of the Taiwan-India Cooperation Council (台灣印度協會).
The forum, called "Seize the India Trend" is being organized by the council, the Taiwan Thinktank and the Ministry of Economic Affairss, and is a response to the "Go South" policy the government advocates to reduce the nation's over-dependence on China.
The list of foreign guest speak-ers features executives from well-known Indian enterprises such as TVS Electronics as well as the Manufacturers' Association for Information Technology.
Acer founder Stan Shih (施振榮) will lead a group of local speakers, including representatives from government agencies and enterprises.
Taiwanese businesspeople have been successful in China, the Philippines, the Czech Republic and Hungary, and it is time for them to take a look at India, said Vijay Gokhale, director-general of the India-Taipei Association.
He encouraged Taiwanese people to learn more about India through the exchange forum.
