More businesses are relying on personality tests than professional tests in screening inexperienced job candidates, according to the results of a recent survey.
Thirteen percent of busi-nesses that responded to the survey give personality tests to fresh graduates during job interviews, compared with 5.4 percent which give professional tests.
By industry, personality tests and presentation are more commonly used by the finance industry than other sectors, while the technology industry prefers thesis review, written tests on professional subjects and on-site work.
Mass interviews are most commonly used in the service industry. Intelligence tests and foreign language tests are preferred by the manufacturing industry.
The survey was conducted by the magazine Career between March 8 and March 17 on 260 human resources officers from the top 1,000 businesses in the country.
The survey showed that, compared with last year, 50 percent of businesses would recruit a similar number of fresh graduates this year.
While 40 percent of the businesses in the service industry will increase their job openings for fresh graduates this year, businesses in the finance industry see the most significant decrease in their job openings.
On the educational background of job candidates, 69 percent of businesses said they are hiring more fresh graduates with a master's degree.
Meanwhile, 22 percent of businesses said they would hire fresh graduates in the form of temporary employment this year, with the technology industry seeing the highest ratio at 29 percent.
