The Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA, 外貿協會) said yesterday that it had secured the participation of top-tier international vendors for next month's Taipei International Autotronics Show, presenting attractive procurement opportunities for the local automobile component industry.

Participating automakers and auto-part suppliers include DaimlerChrysler AG, BMW AG, Siemens VOD Automotive as well as Volkswagen Group, which will give presentations on trends and technical aspects at a forum held at the show.

To be held at the Taipei World Trade Center from April 17 to 20, the Autotronics Show will be Asia's first auto electronics fair.

It will provide an insight into how automobiles are being re-invented thanks to the use of electronics, transforming them into smarter, safer and more convenient products.

Highlighted solutions will include telematics, navigation and communications, car security, engine management, brake controls, suspension and chassis systems, according to TAITRA.

The show will feature 350 booths and is expected to attract 2,000 foreign buyers, it said.

Yulon Motor Co (裕隆汽車) senior vice president Lee Chun-chong (李俊忠) said his company, which will have a themed pavilion at the show, is looking forward to clinching deals with overseas heavyweights.
