Energy consumption up by 3.13 percent last year


The nation's energy consumption in the 11 months of last year amounted to 99.25 million kiloliters of crude oil equivalents (KLOEs), up 3.13 percent from the same period of the previous year, according to a report released on Saturday by the Bureau of Energy.

Meanwhile, energy supplies during the January to November period increased 1.34 percent from the 2004 level to 123.92 million KLOEs, 98.09 percent of which was imported, the report said.

With the continuing hike in international crude oil, liquefied natural gas and coal prices, the total value of last year's imported energy grew 33.5 percent in the 11 months to November in comparison with the same period of 2004.
