On the local market, the New Taiwan dollar gained some of the lost ground against its US counterpart, rising by NT$0.06 to finish at NT$33.238 at the close.

The month-on-month decline reflected a drop in the country's trade surplus since the start of the year and repatriation of foreign capital in the month, the bank said.
