    Organizers, vendors set

The annual Taipei Digital 3C Exhibition opening tomorrow will provide a good bargaining platform for consumers, an event organizer and exhibitors said yesterday.

"This show will display tons of digital lifestyle solutions for everybody, including families, computer geeks and students who need good bargains," said Nadia Shyr (時瑤如), president of Top Link International Exhibition Co (上聯國際展覽), organizer of the show.

The exhibition will showcase latest 3C (computers, communications and consumer electronics) offerings such as computers, digital cameras, personal digital assistants and home electronics, she said.

One of the highlights of the show -- for those lots of cash to spend on their home entertainment systems -- will be a pavilion for million-dollar audio equipment, she said.

Improved economic sentiments this year are expected to mean more purchases of 3C products and the turnout is expected to reach 100,000 visitors, compared to 90,000 last year, Shyr said.

Exhibitors said that they are slashing prices of their certain limited-volume products during the four-day show. The show runs through Monday at the Taipei World Trade Center Hall 3.

One example is an imported high-quality 32-inch liquid crystal display (LCD) TVs from Sharp, priced at just NT$36,900 compared to original price of NT$49,900. A similar product from Sony will cost around NT$59,900, one distributor said.

Also on display will be the newly launched Scottish House notebooks from Elitegroup Computer Systems Co (精英電腦), which are targeted at female buyers. Just 2,400 of this notebooks are available nationwide.
