The 2005 Taiwan Business Alliance Forum will be held on Sept. 22 in Taipei to introduce Taiwan's nanotechnology development to the international business sector and to solicit foreign investment, Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) officials said yesterday.

More 400 representatives from domestic and foreign industrial and academic sectors are expected to attend the discussions, which will cover four main topics on the application of nanotechnology in traditional industry, energy, optoelectronics and biomedicine, the officials said.

Minister of Economic Affairs Ho Mei-yueh (¦ó¬üªµ) will explain the nation's nanotechnology development and business opportunities to the participants of the forum, which will form part of a government-organized "International Nanotechnology Week" to be held in Taipei Sept. 21-25.

Meanwhile, they added, Matthew Nordan, vice president of Lux Research, a leading research and advisory firm focusing on the business and economic impact of nanotechnology, will give a keynote speech on capital venture strategies for nanotechnology development.

In addition to the forum, they went on, the International Nanotechnology Week activities will include an exhibition on achievements made during the first phase of Taiwan's nanotechnology development program, an international seminar on nanotechnology and a panel discussion on nanotech business opportunities.
