    Acer expects windfall
Acer Inc said it expects a capital gain of about NT$262 million (US$8.1 million) from selling Hon Hai Precision Industry Co (ÂE®üºë±K) shares.
Acer sold 2.89 million shares in Hon Hai Precision at an average price of NT$131.54 a share between Dec. 2 and Dec. 8, the company said in a filing to the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
Acer said on Sept. 21 that it is planning to sell 10 million Hon Hai Precision shares and 125 million BenQ Corp (©ú°ò) shares. Hon Hai Precision is Taiwan's biggest electronics company by sales. BenQ is the nation's largest mobile-phone maker.

    Tax revenue increases
The nation's total tax revenues last month amounted to NT$135.8 billion, an increase of 33.4 percent over the same month last year, the Ministry of Finance said yesterday.
Income tax revenues totaled NT$16.3 billion, an increase of NT$20.9 billion. It was followed by revenues from land taxes which grew NT$5.8 billion, or 22.9 percent, to NT$30.9 billion.
The ministry received NT$1.298 trillion in revenues in the first 11 months of the year, up 12 percent from the same period last year, and accounting for 97 percent of the target set for the year.

    NT dollar down again
The New Taiwan dollar continued to lose ground against its US counterpart as the greenback edged up against the Japanese yen and Korean won in Asian trade. The local currency declined NT$0.160 to close at NT$32.260 against the US dollar on the Taipei foreign exchange market, with a turnover of US$960 million.
