Bluetooth boom expected

Nite Corp, Hit Inc and other Chinese and local suppliers of Bluetooth-enabled technology say they expect orders to rise by more than 77 percent this year, according to a survey by Hong Kong publisher and market research company Global Sources.

Local manufacturers such as Nite, Hit and A-Mego Infotech Co say they expect to produce 22.2 million units of Bluetooth-enabled components this year, up from 12.7 million last year, according to a press release by Global Sources.

China-based manufacturers expect to produce 3 million units, up from 1.5 million last year, according to Global Sources.

About 90 percent of the 49 suppliers surveyed expect rising chipset output volumes to drive down costs of Bluetooth components in the next 12 to 24 months, which in turn will reduce prices of finished goods, according to Global Sources.
