Premier Yu Shyi-kun yesterday named Vice Minister of Finance Susan Chang (張秀蓮) to be the right-hand person of financial supervisory board chairman Kong Jaw-sheng (龔照勝).
"Chang will be one of the two vice chairmen at the financial supervisory board [to be established next month]," said a written statement released by the Executive Yuan late yesterday afternoon.
"I have been taking part in the preparations for the board's establishment and am familiar with its administrative and legal matters," Chang told reporters after her nomination was announced.
Chang said she received a phone calls from Kong yesterday asking her to accept the four-year post.
She expressed concern, how-ever, over the rushed establishment of the board's personnel roster, which is to be completed early next week.
At Kong's recommendation, Yu yesterday nominated five more board members to supervise the newly-established 900-member agency. They are Rebecca Wu (吳琮璠), an accounting professor at National Taiwan University, Jerry Huang (黃顯華), president of Barits International Securities Co (倍利
