Relaxation a booming business

PAMPERING Rejuvenation of the body and mind has become the mantra for a variety of companies seeking to cash in on the growing demand for spa treatments

Serving as a touchstone to test customers' response, the package might also help the hotel increase the number of its local guests over the summer, when the number of foreign businesspeople visiting this country is often down, according to Grand Hyatt's marketing communication manager Luanne Li (李佳燕).

She said the hotel hoped to increase its local guest base from 5 percent to 25 percent.

The Grand Formosa is boasting about its Bali-style spa treatment in packages targeted at women.

"With luxury goods shops inside the hotel, the occupancy rate in the 10 spa-offer rooms is expected to reach 70 percent to 80 percent," said Ellen Chang (張筠), the hotel's marketing and communication manager.

For those people who want to ease their tensions but don't want to their wallets slimmed, a wide variety of at-home spa products are available at stores and shopping malls around the country.

Essential oils and other items are available at Working House (生活工場) or The Body Shop (美體小舖) outlets for less than NT$1,000.
