Shares ended higher yesterday as investors rushed to enter the market before Morgan Stanley Capital International's expected upgrade of Taiwan's weighting in its global indexes, analysts said.
The TAIEX finished up 104.19 points, or 1.9 percent, at 5,664.35. Dealings totaled NT$80.70 billion (US$2.39 billion), the highest level since June 8, when trading was valued at NT$97.95 billion (US$2.92 billion).
Advancers outnumbered decliners 498 to 263, while 190 issues were unchanged.
