Delegation to attend food exhibition in New York

Taiwan will send a large delegation to participate in the 2004 Fancy Food Show from June 27 to June 29 in New York to promote Taiwanese gourmet food.

The Fancy Food Show showcases foods from around the world and this year is expected to attract exhibitors from 52 countries.

The delegation, the largest in years, will be comprised of representatives from eight food associations and the Taiwan Provincial Farmers Association.

The delegation will host a pavilion to introduce Taiwanese agricultural products as well as different processing technologies.

Representatives of the delegation noted that the agricultural industry backed up the nation's industrial development several decades ago, and when the industrial sector grew, advanced technologies helped a lot to improve the quality of agricultural products.

The complimentary effects also can be seen in the example of the Asian Vegetable Research and Development Center (亞蔬中心), which has a presence in this country and has conducted numerous exchanges and cooperation projects with local agricultural entrepre-neurs, they said.
