A trade mission headed by Vice Minister of Economic Affairs Chen Ruey-long (³¯·ç¶©) has obtained fruitful results in Argentina.

Sources close to the mission said on Wednesday that during the three-day visit to Buenos Aires -- which began Sunday -- the mission obtained orders totalling US$220,000 as well as potential orders amounting to between US$4 million and US$5 million.

The mission included members from various manufacturing sectors, including computer equipment, digital camera, electronics spare parts, textile and machinery.

The mission held a trade symposium at the Intercontinental Hotel on Sunday to discuss business matters with 700 Argentinean businesspeople and more than 400 buyers from the region.

Accompanied by Liu Chun-hsiung (¼B¬K¶¯), the nation's representative to Argentina, Chen and key members of the mission called on Marcele Elizondo, chairman of the Export Foundation of the Argentinean Foreign Affairs Ministry and Guillermo Jorge Feldman, the director-general of trade policy and management of the Ministry of Economy and Production.

Chen also met with members of the Taiwan Chamber of Commerce in Argentina.

He expressed his appreciation for their contribution to Taiwan's economic development and pro-mised that the ministry will help them with any difficulties they face in restructuring their enterprises.
