General Motors Taiwan will display 13 cars from the Cadillac, Buick and Opel brands, priced from NT$599,000 to NT$3.5 million.
"We will hold `happy hour' activities from 4pm to 6pm every day during the show for customers who would like to purchase cars at surprising discounts," said Wendy Sang (
She declined to reveal exactly how surprising the discounts would be.
The appreciation of the euro has hurt many European importers who have already suffered a decrease in market share from 35 percent to 15 percent because of the growing popularity of domestic cars, said Sang.
"We will have to raise our prices by 3 percent to 5 percent to reflect the increased costs resulting from [the euro's] appreciation sometime this year," added Sang. "Meanwhile, we will offer more advanced services as compensation to customers."
