To improve Taiwan's enforcement record, the Ministry of Economic Affairs' Intellectual Property Office (IPO) is organizing a series of training seminars to train police officers and prosecutors how to spot fakes.
The most recent series of seminars concentrating on counterfeit books and pharmaceuticals started Wednesday and is scheduled to continue next week, IPO Deputy Director-General Jack Lu (
"I would like to arrange training to spot fake alcohol products," Lu said. "But we need experts from the industry who can speak Mandarin."
New training could start as early as Dec. 19, Lu said. The Canadian Trade Office and the Scotch industry said yesterday they would be contacting Lu to take part in the program. Winkler is already involved in the program.
