To cope with Taiwan's strong need for industrial development, the government has eased rules on the entry of Chinese professionals based overseas to allow them to contribute on a short-term basis in Taiwan.
According to a spokesman for the Investment Commission under the Ministry of Economic Affairs, the Ministry of the Interior issued revisions Oct. 23 to facilitate the entry of Chinese professional industrial personnel living overseas into Taiwan, where they are allowed to conduct academic research or take part in industrial development seminars.
Under the terms of the regulations, professional industrial personnel from China with masters degrees or above who are engaged in long-term scientific research or academic studies in a third country or area with a permanent residence permit are qualified to be invited by Taiwanese businesses to conduct activities focusing on industrial research and promotion, the official said.
