FedEx Express opens new headquarters in Shanghai

As part of its continued expansion in Asia, FedEx Express, a subsidiary of FedEx Corp, plans to expand its presence in China and establish a regional headquarters in Shanghai, the company said in a statement yesterday.

"The establishment of this new structure will give FedEx Express the ability to respond more quikcly and with much greater focus on the issues that are really affecting our customers and, in turn, create enhanced service offerings that will be unique to this complex market," said FedEx Asia-Pacific president David Cunningham.

The new China department, with 50 staff in Shanghai, will be part of the company's overall Asia Pacific division and is scheduled to begin operations on Dec. 1, the company said.
