Tainan industrial park to kick off US promotional tour

The Tainan Science-based Industrial Park (台南科學園區), in cooperation with National Cheng Kung University, is scheduled to kick off a business promotion drive Sept. 26 in four major US cities to solicit investment in Taiwan.

Officials from the Tainan science park, as well as from the university's Small and Medium-sized Enterprise Incubator, will begin the campaign in Los Angeles Sept. 26, followed by visits to Houston, Chicago and San Francisco and ending Oct. 4, said a spokesman for the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Houston.

The mission will mainly target US companies founded by Taiwanese science-technology professionals, inviting them to return to Taiwan to start up new sci-tech research or manufacturing operations, which the spokesman said would be a mutually beneficial approach for both the expatriates and Taiwan.

The Tainan science park, Taiwan's second was established in 1997.
