Having worked in a Taiwanese company, Boyce is savvy about local business practices.
"As soon as Taiwanese companies heard that Computex was canceled, they would instantly have scrambled to make up for not having the show," Boyce said. "Being so business-minded, the Taiwanese would have looked at how much business Computex generates for them and would decide how they can make up the losses."
Delaying Computex until September will mean that companies miss out on the Christmas buying season, one analyst said yesterday.
"One of the reasons Computex takes place in the second quarter is that it is a great opportunity for people to look around and see the new products they will buy for the second half of the year," said Chris Hsieh (
