Hong Kong began screening travelers yesterday to curb the spread of the disease, which has infected 470 people and killed 12 in the city.
Thailand will quarantine people arriving on flights from areas most affected by the spread of a respiratory illness in case it suspects a passenger has been infected.
Those arriving in the southeast Asian nation from China, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Singapore and Taiwan will be isolated for 24 hours, said Public Health Minister Sudarat Keyuraphan.
Thai Airways International is requiring passengers with flu-like symptoms to provide a doctor's letter saying they're healthy before letting them board flights, President Kanok Abhiradee said in a statement Friday.
Qantas, Australia's biggest airline, said Friday it would cut six flights a week to Hong Kong as part of a 20 percent reduction of available seats.
