Stocks rose for a fourth day, paced by exporters such as Acer Inc, on optimism orders from the US will revive after a survey showed services in the largest economy expanded for an 11th month.
TAIEX added 11.22, or 0.2 percent, to close at 4701.08. Within the index, almost three stocks dropped for every two that rose. The total value of trade was NT$110.5 billion (US$3.2 billion).
Acer Inc rose NT$2.20 to NT$34.90. The company, whose customers include International Business Machines Corp, may report a net income of NT$9 billion for last year, a news service reported. Between 1993 and 2001, Acer's profit never exceeded NT$1 billion.
Realtek Semiconductor Corp (瑞昱半導體) dropped NT$2, or 2.1 percent, to NT$92.50. The designer of chips for telecommunications equipment and computers reported December sales fell 23 percent from the previous month to NT$668.3 million.
