A Swiss-led consortium of international investors will begin construction on a US$210-million entertainment complex early next year in Vietnam's business capital of Ho Chi Minh City.
The SaigoMax "edutainment and adventure park" is the brainchild of Zurich-based financier Walt Beglinger, who has assembled a powerful group of investors eager to tap the country's increasingly affluent middle-class.
"There is nothing comparable in Vietnam. I have rarely seen a market as ready as this one because there is literally no competition. There are only bowling alleys and karaoke joints," he said.
"To call it an entertainment park is in reality a gross understatement. It will be more of a cultural centre, encompassing interactive educational science and technology exhibits and some of the world's most exciting rides."
The scheme also features a water park, an open-air concert auditorium, a four-screen cineplex, a 1,400-seat theatre, and a bar and restaurant area.
