AU Optronics, Quanta Display and Chi Mei were unavailable, or declined to comment.
Taiwan is the world's largest manufacturer of TFT-LCD flat-panel displays according to the government-funded Market Intelligence Center. Last year local companies produced 11.7 million LCD panels. This year they are expected to produce 24.45 million panels, more than double last year's result.
