Matsushita prepares to exhibit concept products

Wouldn't it be nice if a vacuum cleaner cleaned your room before you returned home? Or, if you could check what you have in your refrigerator from the office before stopping at the grocery store?

"These could be possible in less than 10 years," said Yasuhiro Fukagawa, general manager of corporate communications at Matsushita Electric Industrial Co Ltd.

Matsushita is scheduled to open its Panasonic Center in Tokyo on Sept. 14 where the company will exhibit concept products.

One of the products on display at the center's future lifestyle lab is the Robotic Cleaner, an automatic vacuum cleaner. It has a sensor and a camera inside the machine so that it can be controlled remotely, even by using the screen of a mobile phone.

A camera is also installed inside the Internet Refrigerator and transmits pictures of what's inside the refrigerator, so that it too can be checked by a mobile phone.

For the bathroom, a prototype high-tech toilet is fitted with a motorized seat that adjusts to each user's height and the appliance can analyze urine before automatically sending any problematic results to a doctor via the Internet.

"People who have diabetes could immediately report their condition to their home doctors with this future toilet," said Matsushita's Fukagawa. And soon, taking showers while standing may be a thing of the past. With a new high-tech shower bed, you lay down and a multi-directional mist cleans and relaxes your body.

"The bed type shower could also be used for elderly people who could not move their body by themselves," said a product information guide.

A closet outfitted with the Clothing Server could help you decide what outfit to wear. Enter the day's temperature and weather, as well as if you want casual of formal clothes, into the monitor attached to the closet's door and the robotic clothing server finds the best wardrobe for you.
