"Predictions by Bill Gates [CEO of Microsoft Corp] in 1996 of paperless societies have not materialized," Chen said.
"His forecast that the consumption of paper worldwide would decline by 25 percent by 2000 has now been proven to be wrong. On average, global consumption has in fact increased by 2 percent over the past five years," he said.
