Taipei is preparing to host the International Digital Content Forum on Wednesday.
The forum, organized by the Institute for Information Industry's Market Intelligence Center (市場情報中心), is aimed at providing a boost to the local software and Internet-content industry, which includes computer games, Web page design and online animation, video and photography.
The forum will be held at the Taipei International Convention Center, featuring a group of world-class speakers such as Japanese game developer Akai Yutaka and senior vice president of animation at Sony Corp, Barry Weiss.
Speeches will focus on latest industry developments and trends for the future, including the development of new games from the creators of the popular titles "Shaolin Soccer" and "Sakura War."
The Ministry of Economic Affairs is sponsoring the forum in a bid to boost Taiwan's software and Internet-content development industry. Pundits have said a key advantage to Taiwan's software and Internet industry is the growing demand for Chinese-language games and programs.
Keynote speakers for the event include Robin King, president and CEO of Imagina Corp, who will speak on new opportunities in digital content development. Another speaker, Fujita Takahiro, chief researcher at Japan's Media Development Research Institute, will talk about trends in Japan's digital content industry.
Micho Chang (張榮貴), president of Taiwan-based Spring House Technology (春水堂科技娛樂), which produces the cartoon series "A Kwei (阿貴)," will also speak.
