Taiwan's second-largest airline, EVA Airways Corp (長榮航空), will from next month offer flights between Taipei and Phnom Penh, EVA said yesterday.
The new route was established after a growing demand from tourists and business people, the airline said.
From Jan. 19, EVA will offer three flights weekly in partnership with Cambodia's President Airline, which has no planes, but was given an operating license by the Cambodian authorities under the "sky-opening" policy.
The route will be serviced by MD-90 planes, with departures from Taipei scheduled for every Tuesday, Friday and Saturday.
"Negotiations of the flight route had been underway for some time, but they had been stalled because of political factors," an EVA official said.
