Core Pacific City to keep operating without a license

By Annabel Lue  /  STAFF REPORTER

With the lack of an operating license from the Taipei City Government, the Core Pacific Group announced yesterday that it will delay the official opening of a new shopping mall.

"We are still waiting for the city government to approve our safety inspection and then issue the operating license to us," said Juan Hsin-nang (阮信囊), spokesman of Core Pacific City (京華城), a multi-functional mega-mall located near the intersection of the Civil Boulevard and Pateh Road.

The mall launched its three day soft-opening on Monday, with the grand opening originally scheduled for today. Juan said they have to postpone the official opening until receiving the operating license. But the mall will continue to operate during its trial period. To compete with the attractive promotional events offered by other shopping centers, Core Pacific has decided to hold a lucky draw for 100 new cars, the mall announced last week.

"We don't want to disappoint our customers," Juan said.
