Core Pacific City to target insomniacs with all-night films

By Annabel Lue  /  STAFF REPORTER

Taipei's soon-to-be opened Core Pacific City (京華城) shopping center has aligned with an international movie-theater company in an effort to tempt night owls with all night flicks and all-you-can-drink beverages.

"From 11pm to 9am the following morning, as long as you buy a NT$300 movie ticket, you can enjoy four different movies and free drinks," said Cheng Li-feng (程立峰), general manager of Cinemark Taiwan.

Core Pacific City is scheduled to open on Nov. 23, and the 13-screen multiplex theater, located on lower-level 1 in the mall, is Cinemark International's first investment in Taiwan.

According to Shen Ching-ching (沈慶京), chairman of the Core Pacific Group, the center is designed to differ from traditional malls and "will be open 24-hours a day, enabling our customers to shop, seek entertainment and dine at any time."

Cinemark will show a variety of films around the clock.

"In addition to providing first-run films during the day, we plan to show classic films after midnight," Cheng said.

To lower operationing costs, late-night showings will be on four screens instead of all 13, he said.
