Former Hsinchu City Bureau of Cultural Affairs chief Chu Mei-feng (璩美鳳) yesterday appeared on a TV program, but was still reluctant to admit that she was the woman in an illegally released sex VCD.
After disappearing from the public eye for three weeks, Chu yesterday appeared on a local TV talk show to discuss the recent sex-VCD frenzy, in which she is believed to be the woman having sex with Tseng Chung-ming (曾仲銘).
When asked by TV host Hu Chung-hsing (胡忠信) if she is the woman in the video, Chu avoided a direct admission.
"It's very possible that it's me. It really did look like me," Chu said.
Clearly perturbed by Chu's diplomatic non-answer, Hu's tone turned harsh.
"Just answer me with a yes or no," Hu exclaimed in an aggressive tone.
"I am not sure if the VCD [we saw] is a fake or not," Chu answered.
"What I can say is that the hidden camera was not installed by me. I was not the one behind [the installation of the camera] either," said Chu.
When asked what reason she thought alleged suspect Kuo Yu-ling (郭玉鈴) could have had for installing a hidden camera in her apartment, Chu said, "she [Kuo] might have done it to punish me simply because she thought I was a very wicked person."
Hu continued, "Do you think she [Kuo] was used as a tool [by someone else], or that she actually hates you, or believes you are the kind of person portrayed by some paparazzi magazines?"
"All those possibilities exist," Chu said.
When asked by another host, Wang Yong-he (汪用和), about the men she has had intimate relationships with and which one she loved the most, Chu said "I don't think any of them would like to be the one I love the most."
Wang went on to ask "Who is the one you engage with the most?"
"It's hard to say. Perhaps Tsai Jen-chien (蔡仁堅)," Chu said.
Tsai, a former mayor of Hsinchu and one of Chu's former lovers, had been questioned by prosecutors over the VCD scandal.
According to a source from the Taipei District Prosecutors' Office, Kuo had taped Chu having sex with at least ten men.
When Hu asked Chu if she had ever offered sex in exchange for money from those who she had had intimate relations with, Chu became defiant and strongly denied the allegation.
Chu expressed her regrets toward Tseng's wife, saying,"I felt her tolerance, but I can't express [my feelings] with words."
During Hu's unrelenting line of questioning, Chu complained that he was behaving like a prosecutor.
Hu explained his tough stance to the Taipei Times. "The media is not her tool. The media is independent. As she contacted us on her own, she had to face our severe examination."
