Night out without women no fun at all

Thousands of Colombian women happily celebrated last week's "Night Without Men" by filling salsa clubs, bars, and male strip shows, but few men were as enthusiastic to Friday night's sequel -- when women were asked to stay home while the men partied.
"Going out without women is very boring and dangerous," said Cesar Pineros, who chose to spend part of the night drinking beer in a Bogota bar with his girlfriend.
Friday's "Night Without Women" was the brain child of Bogota's eccentric mayor, Antanas Mockus, who last week condemned men to a night at home while the women partied through the early morning hours.
But few men saw the point in celebrating an evening without women. During a rainy Friday night, most of the bars stood empty and even the female strip shows had a difficult time pulling an audience. The few men who did venture out could do nothing but complain.
"It's a night that doesn't make sense," a 22-year-old male student told El Tiempo newspaper.
Mockus, who spent part of the evening in a restaurant with his son and two nephews, noted disapprovingly that men were more mindful of the ban last week than were women on Friday.
While no punishments were handed out, those breaking the ban were asked to carry permission slips listing an excuse for being out.
